If a sense of serenity is what you want after a day of hustle and bustle in the parks, then consider the Wilderness Lodge Resort prime location. Themed after the lodges of famous national parks like Yosemite, the Wilderness Lodge succeeds in creating a feeling of the mountainous northwest with all the trimmin’s. From the giant fireplace in the lobby to the geyser that goes off every hour by the pool to the forest of pines all around the resort, the Wilderness Lodge is a cozy and intimate taste of nature. In addition to this sublime atmosphere, the Wilderness Lodge Resort offers

  1. Direct boat service to Magic Kingdom and the Contemporary Resort
  2. A themed pool with waterfall and two spas; one hot and one warm
  3. Walking and/or biking distance to River Country waterpark and Ft Wilderness area
  4. Artist Pointe full service restaurant specializing in Northwest cuisine nightly for dinner and a Whispering Canyons serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner with a "smokehouse" cuisine specialty.
  5. Two tours daily; a morning tour that focuses on architecture and theming and an afternoon tour that offers a sampling of the smokehouse fare
  6. Daily family picked to take the American Flag down from the top of the resort

Wilderness Lodge resort rooms are slightly smaller than other deluxe flavored resorts and sleep 4. Rooms have a choice between two queen size beds and a queen size bed with a set of bunk beds. There a few honeymoon suites with king size beds and a Jacuzzi tub as well as junior suites that include a sitting area with sink and refrigerator. Fantasy in the Sky fireworks can be view from the upper main balconies and there is a nightly performance of the Electrical Pageant Parade from the beach. Room service is available until 11PM.

One of the top resorts at Disney for kids on 1/25/2010 by Chippychip

This resort has been a staple in my family's life. We were there the year it was first opened, having been disappointed at the Floridian, and we instantly fell in love. I have stayed there 15 times, no joke. It's always getting better. While the rooms are smaller than most other deluxe resorts, you're only missing a couch and an extra chair. The views are great on the lake, there is boat transportation to mk. And contemporary resort. It is also very reasonable in price. Though we have begun to hotel hop again, we can always trust this amazing & beautiful hotel with a great atmosphere forever and will leave a lasting legacy on our family.

Wilderness Lodge on 6/12/2003 by Erin

My husband and I stayed there in November of 02 for our honeymoon. We stayed on the 7th floor in a honeymoon suite. The concierge delivered a beautiful honeymoon tote with lots of goodies to our room for us, I use my bag all the time! The room was beautiful. I felt like I was coming home every night when we returned. The jacuuzi bath tub was to die for. The room was full of sunlight and the perfect disney touches. I can not say enough about the conceirge service, they were so friendly and helpful. They greeted you every time you stepped off the elevator. Anything that we needed they were more then happy to do for us. Every morning the newspaper was at our door, as soon as we stepped out we were overlooking the lobby. We just would sit down in the chairs, rocking chairs, and couches right outside the door and take in the surroundings. The food on the concierge level was actually very good and filling. We could not get enough wine and cheese. I was addicted to the peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. The soups they had out everynight were always delicious, along with the dishes they also had out. We wished we had not had reservations for dinner everynight, we could have stayed and eaten what they had out everynight and have been very full. It was so nice to step out of the room and be able to grab some breakfast, it saved us so much time. We loved the pool, it was such a wonderful break in the afternoon. The water rushing in is like a built in water jet. We rented the water mice from the Lodge, and we had a wonderful time. There is so much to see and you can go so far with them when you rent them from the WL. Overall we were there for a week and had a wonderful honeymoon. The atmosphere is so warm feeling. Everyone truly made us feel as if we were at home. We can not wait to go back again.

Our Jan 2001 WL stay on 4/24/2002 by Jo

We stayed at this resort in Jan 2001. We fell in love with it. Everything about it is so nice and cozy. That January was cool so it was nice to sit by the fireplaces throughout the resort and relax. My kids loved the brook with the little bridge in the lobby as well as the kids crafts and lincoln logs there. We stayed on a concierge floor during their first weekend that they offered it and we really enjoyed it. Everyone was very nice and couldnt do enough for you. WE WILL BE BACK

Breathless on 3/10/2001 by Taylor

When you enter Disney's Wilderness Lodge, and the sliding doors open to show you the warm glow of the lobby, you cannot do anything but stare at least for one moment. At that moment, nothing is felt except the sense of home. At the Lodge, I always feel like I can just snuggle up wiht a blanket and sleep in the lobby, with the soothing music, running water, and warmth of the fireplace. The Wilderness Lodge is a themed resort at it's best. I could never go to Disney World again without staying in the Lodge. Never.

concierge service added on 2/6/2001 by Ahnalira

Wilderness Lodge has recently added concierge service. Since the resort was built without a concierge lounge, buffet service is very creatively stationed by the 7th floor elevators... stay tuned for the review; >)

Oooh.....the Lodge!!! on 5/4/2000 by April Blossoms

This is one of my favorite places in all of Disney World. Seth and I spent our honeymoon there in 1996 and had a fantastic time!! The theming is incredible (the pool-though small- and the lobby-so very grand- are to die for ;)....it takes you to a place....where you feel adventurous and calm all at the same time. The music that gently spreads throughout the resort warms your heart and makes you feel that the Lodge is your home away from home. We haven't been back yet to stay but now that we live in Orlando....we go and visit, every chance we get. I've visited many other resorts and in their own right they are, in Disney style, wonderful..... but the Lodge for me....compares to nothing else. If you want to experience....warmth of heart, relaxtion of the mind and spirit on top of the magic of Disney....the Lodge is for you :)

WL music on 4/15/2000 by Pixie Galore

When we stayed at WL, we found that the music that filled the air, inside and out, added so much to the ambience that you describe so well. An hour at the pool was so refreshing as you drifted on notes that expanded your soul to include all of nature. On the other hand, at the Caribbean Resort, we found it not quite so relaxing to listen to non-stop Reggae music. And I LOVE Reggae, it makes me want to dance. Others might love to have it about all the time. It really did help to locate you in the islands. Maybe adding info on the music at each resort would entice others to decide on one over the other. To me, it is an integral part of the overall theming. LOVE your descriptions!
